Our People

Our members come from many walks of life, backgrounds and traditions. What we have in common is an appreciation of a community space in which flourishing of the individual is aligned to the flourishing of our world.

Those who come to the HFI are generally introduced to our society by meeting with a friend or colleague or attending one of our ceremonies or events and feel a connection to our philosophy and ways of being.

Projects

Our members are actively engaged in projects within our communities that focus on preserving the natural environment through a variety of collective and individual endeavours.

Chaplaincy

Some members of the HFI are professionally trained in providing support and listening services. The HFI’s dedicated Humanist Chaplains meet people in their home or when in hospital who may wish to have a private confidential chat with an experienced trained person. Should you or a loved one require the support of one of our trained Chaplains, we are available to support when requested.

Community Champions

Within our Society we have many members who give of their time generously to their community and to individuals who are seeking help. We acknowledge these people within our Fellowship while they may wish to remain private in the community in which they live and work

Education

Members of the Humanist Fellowship of Ireland value the environment in which we live and encourage people to be sensitive to all aspects or the place we share with others, including the “more-than-human” species. We are widely involved in educational programmes and teaching how to leave this world a better place for the next generation.

Volunteering

We encourage all members is to get involved in community projects that enhance the environment, and also, to give their time to organisations who work to improve the lives of those facing adversity, social exclusion and other challenges. Most of this work in undertaken in a quiet way by individuals who wish to participate as helpers within their community.
